Healthcare Cash Plans
What are Healthcare Cash Plans?
Healthcare Cash Plans are schemes where you pay a monthly fee which entitles you to have your routine medical and dental expenses covered, up to a limit defined in the plan.
Healthcare Cash Plans are different to Health insurance and you can have both at the same time. Whereas Health insurance usually covers you for treatment of conditions that develop after you take out the plan, you can use a Healthcare cash plan to pay for ongoing and routine treatments. They also provide 24-hour access to a GP.
Another difference to standard health insurance, where you might go to private hospitals or dentists, is that you can use a Healthcare cash plan alongside the NHS. Many NHS users are still expected to pay for prescriptions, eye tests and dental treatment and you can use a Healthcare Cash Plan to fund these routine expenses. They often also cover well-being and complimentary therapies, in-patient hospital admission and paternity/maternity health as well.
Why do I need a Healthcare Cash Plan?
A Healthcare Cash Plan provides you with cash back towards treatment and services from a wide range of healthcare providers such as opticians, dentists, physiotherapists, chiropractors and more. No GP referral is required, although most policies include the ability to speak to an experienced practising GP over the phone, anytime of the day or night. Your private prescriptions can also be delivered to your home or office.
